Maximizing the Variance of a Function in a Certain Class

This talk will present a solution to Problem 10444 which appeared in the March 1995 issue of the American Mathematical Monthly. The solution should be accessible to anyone who has taken one semester of calculus, but the motivation will be more clear to someone who has seen some basic statistics.
