Chapter 9. Moving JPEG Files To Your Document

All the moving that is discussed here is done with the assumption that you are connected to the Macintoshs in the Stright 219 lab. The way to move documents is to use the ftp command. If you follow the list below, your scanned graphics will appear in your DECstation account.

From the mac, double click on the VAX icon
When the session appears on the screen hit ctrl Z, the window will disappear, don't worry about it.
Click on file at the top of the screen and drag to FTP Enable.
Click on file at the top of the screen and drag down to Open Connection.
Hit Backspace, and type: avocet.ma.iup.edu under session name, and hit enter.
At Login: type your DECstation account
Type cd public_html, hit enter.
Click on file drag down to Set Transfer Directory, and get your file.
Type: binary at the avocet> prompt and hit enter.
Click on Network drag down to Send FTP Command.
Type: get your filename, and hit enter.
Type: quit, enter, type: Logout, enter.

That how to FTP files over to the DECstation. Once again, the assumption is made that the user is familiar with the systems involved in this manual. If you aren't 'computer literate', you shouldn't be here.
