Building a Snowman

This will only work on the PowerMacs. If you have a PowerMac without a network connection, then ask me to give you spheres.wrl on a floppy disk and then skip to Step 6.

Retrieve the VRML file

  1. From the Apple menu, launch Netscape Communicator
  2. From the IUP Mathematics Department main page, go to
    Course Information
    LS 499
    Admin
    Daily Course Supplements
    Simple Example: spheres.wrl
  3. Under Communicator's File menu, select Save As
  4. Click on the Desktop button
  5. Click on the Save button

Modify the VRML file

  1. From the Apple menu, launch Word
  2. Under Word's File menu, select Open
  3. Click on the Desktop button
  4. Double-click on spheres.wrl
  5. Modify the VRML file to create a snowman
  6. Under Word's File menu, select Save As
  7. Under Save File As Type, select Text Only
  8. Click on the Desktop button
  9. Click on Save

View the Changes

  1. Under Netscape Communicator's File menu, select Open, and then select Open Page in Navigator
  2. Click on the Desktop button
  3. Double-click on spheres.wrl

Making Additional Changes

  1. To make additional changes to spheres.wrl,
    1. Make the modifications in Word
    2. Under Word's File menu, select Save
    3. Click on Netscape Communicator's Reload button
