My Major: ![]() I am a senior and major in Office Systems/Business Technology Support at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in Indiana, Pennsylvania. This area of study focuses on the configuration and setup of Client/Server networks, Peer-to-Peer networks and the overall understanding of office systems support. Through my experiences here at IUP, I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of hands on projects furthering my technological background. Some notable projects involved remote ghosting software, the configuration of a small network file server, and fixing/ rebuilding 486 and Pentium based systems within the college computer labs. As a part of my major, it is required that I put in a minimum of
50 hours of volunteer work. This work entails such tasks as investigating purchases
of servers for the university, repairing floppy disks, CD-ROM drives, and hard drives in
the school computer labs, and shadowing the Systems technician's within IUP's College of
Business. I have also had the opportunity to be apart of the set-up of a new
business organization called Help Desk Institute (HDI). I have lived in a wide variety of places on the East Coast of the United States. During my summers in college, I have had the opportunity to move to various locations on the beach to live with my buddies while I worked as a full-time waiter. I have two older sisters that both live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In my spare time I like to play golf with my father and hang out with my mother when I have the chance to leave school. |
