My major is MIS (Management of Information Systems). The MIS major prepares a persons to enter a technology field with the aspects of business management as a tool to guide them through their career. The MIS major here at IUP is composed of the general business core along with the MIS requirements: COBOL I & II, Database, System Analysis and Design, Business Technology, and 3 MIS electives of our choice - mine being Visual Basic, Networking, and Electronic Commerce.

Biography:

Welcome to my profile page, I’m Jeff. As you may know I am majoring in MIS, but beyond the fact that I’m studying computers, I have many other areas of interest.

First of all, I grew up in the small town of Derry, Pennsylvania. Throughout my younger years, I had a great interest in musical theater. I always dreamed about performing on Broadway. However, due to the fact I was terrified of not having a steady income, I chose to study Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. After a year of the engineering curriculum, I decided that my interest in business and computers was far greater than engineering. This led me to apply to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a MIS major. Yet, throughout my college years, I continued to pursue my ‘Broadway dream’ on a smaller scale. I performed as ‘Joseph’ in the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Indiana Community Theater. Also, I became President of IUP Concert Dance, a student operated performance dance company. All in all, I received the best of both worlds and will continue to combine both the arts and business technology.
