The South Campus Modeling project is a vast  and complex one.  In terms of size alone, the area in question encompasses:
    • nearly  31360000 square meters of land
    • 41 buildings
    • 12 special landscape features (such as ponds and sports fields)
As one might assume, a project of this size is quite challenging, both in terms of  the technical expertise required and in terms of the time required. In some cases, such as creating an elevation grid for so large an area, the needed skills are small--this aspect amounts to entering elevation from a map into the elevation grid.  Because of the area covered, however, the time commitment for such data entry is enormous, particularly if the landscape is to be portrayed with any type of precision.

In other cases, such as the creation of buildings and special features, expertise and time vary depending on how detailed such objects need be.
