Our client is Alice Lackner, Director of the Historical and Genealogical Society of Indiana County. The Historical Society is based out of the Silas Clark house located at the intersection of South Sixth Street and Wayne Avenue (one block behind Sheetz on Wayne Avenue). Located at the Clark House is a library ran by the Historical Society, along with hundreds of articles dating back through the 1800s that were actually used at one point in Indiana. The house is rich in history, and currently has rooms restored to what they would have looked like when the Clark House was an actual residence. Further plans include more renovations to the house to finish off more rooms, and to make the Clark House as realistic as possible.
The main reason that the client wanted this project is to create a homepage for the Historical and Genealogical Society, and to present a very simple 3-Dimensional Model in VRML to the public to get an overview of what the South 6th Street Historical District looks like. The main focus was getting picture s of the sites, and incorporating them into a web page format, and then concentrate on the VRML portion, which would actually show what the layout of South 6th Street looks like, as well as include VRML models of the Silas Clark house and the Mitchell House.
The main function of the project is to give a member of the general public an idea of the functions of the Historical and Genealogical Society through the use of Web-pages and VRML modeling. The project contains the following items:
The main goal we had for our project was to keep it simple. Our audience is not a very "computer oriented" audience, so our goal was to make it understandable, and enjoyable for their use. It is not as detailed as the other projects, especially due to the fact that our main objective was to keep it simple for our client and the users.
