Robert E. Cook Honors College Summer Program
The
Robert E. Cook Honors College
Summer Program recruits talented high school
students to participate in one-week workshops at IUP each summer. During
the summers of 1996 1997, the math department ran a workshop entitled "Building
Virtual Worlds for the Internet," taught by
Dan Burkett. The
students learned the mathematics
behind 3-dimensional coordinate systems, translations, rotations,
scalings and shears. Then they learned the
VRML programming language and
developed scenes for use with
VRML
browsers. To view the scenes you will
either need the appropriate plug-in, or you will need to download the
file and view with a VRML browser.
