K-12 Students

with kindergarten through 12th-grade students and their
teachers. The department holds an annual high
school mathematics competition for schools in western Pennsylvania.
The Adelante Project gives high
school students of Hispanic background an opportunity to experience
college life. The Center for Statistics
Education in Pennsylvania provides professional development
for K-12 teachers throughout the state. The SPIRAL
project trains science and mathematics K-12 teachers, K-12 administrators
and future teachers in interdisciplinary content and technology
with inquiry and collaborative-based teaching strategies. The IUP
Software Development Center,
in which two mathematics department faculty are involved, conducts
robotics programming workshops for middle- and high-school students.
If you are a K-12 student and like mathematics, consider
a career in mathematics or mathematics education.
