Electronic Portfolio
9. Creating Your ISTE Standards Page
Based on the given list of ISTE standards, choose which standard you have an artifact for. In Microsoft FrontPage, open the file for the standard (Ex.: for the ISTE standard 1, open iste1) from the CD.
For each standard on the CD, the template has defined the standard for you, all you need to do is insert your artifact for that standard and include your rationale statement of why your example(s) is/are indicative of that standard and your reflection of what you have learned in relationship to your example(s).
Creating new pages and linking them to your standards page.
To create a new page to place your artifacts, rationale and reflection on, simply click on File on the toolbar, then scroll down and click on New, then scroll down and click on Page. This will open a blank page for you to work on with your artifacts.
Inserting your rationale and reflection.
Your rationale and reflection can be typed into your portfolio as if you were typing a paper in Microsoft Word. Move the cursor to where you would like to type and begin typing.
Type in why you feel this artifact is indicative of this standards and your reflection on what you learned in relationship to your example. (A guideline for reflections can be found in Appendix A).
Copying and pasting artifacts into your portfolio.
Artifacts that are saved in Microsoft Word can be copied and pasted into your portfolio. To do this you need to open the artifact which you would like to insert, select all of the text, by using your cursor to highlight the entire file, or you can choose Edit and then Select All from the toolbar. Right click on the highlighted area and click on copy. Go back into your electronic portfolio where you wish to insert the artifact, right click on the page and click paste.
You can then edit and make any necessary changes to your artifact after it is pasted into your portfolio.
Scanning artifacts into your portfolio.
Double click on the Epson Smart Panel icon on the desktop. Click on the scan and save icon. Place your image in the top right corner of the scanner face down and close the scanner. Press the green start button on the front of the scanner. A file savings settings box pops up. Choose the location where you wish to save your image. Then click OK. Another Save & View screen will pop up, save the file or save and view the file.
Repeat this step for any additional pages of artifacts.
Repeat the steps in this section for any of the ISTE standards for which you would like to enter artifacts, a rationale, and a reflection.
